What does it mean: the cult of Prince Lazar? It is certainly a well-conceived reverence for a person in whom certain ideas, virtues and messages are concentrated... It is the point of contact and transmission of medieval Serbian statehood into the people’s memory. It can never be stressed enough how vastly important the relics of a nation’s holy rulers must have been for its self-awareness, its continuity or the revival of its civilization.
